Chevening staff from all three areas (Kent, Suffolk and Surrey) joined together at the Modern Pantry in Clerkenwell London to enjoy a glass of bubbly and high tea to kick off the Festive Season and welcome new Financial Adviser, Jenni Macdonald to the Team.

Having enjoyed a sumptuous feast of unusual treats including some exotic ingredients (sumac, umeboshi, ajowan, tamarillo and garam masala), the short walk to Debra’s 40 year celebration was a welcome interlude.  (Chevening Financial Director, David Hawes-Gatt is on the Events Committee for the Charity and the company is proud to support the organisation’s work.)

Ben Merrett – Chief Executive of Debra, together with Andrew Grist, the Father of the little girl Isla pictured above who suffers with EB (Epidermolysis Bullosa) and the new Patron of the Charity – Simon Weston (Veteran of the British Army and severely injured in the Falklands War), shared moving stories of the challenges faced everyday by those with this debilitating and sometimes life threatening disease.  And yet, there was also a message of hope as the Charity works tirelessly to alleviate symptoms and find a cure.  If you feel inspired, do check out their work at www.debra.org.uk
