Noel Watson: IFA
Talk to me about: If you are planning for, at, or in early retirement, I help people just like you identify, achieve and maintain their desired lifestyles without fear of running out of money.
I enjoy what I do because: Retirement planning is a challenge. A Nobel prize winner in Economic Science once stated that it was the nastiest hardest problem in finance. I help people build a retirement plan that will give them peace and mind and clarity at this key stage in life.
Cats, Canines & Kids: A son, a daughter and an untrainable puppy called Allie.
Hobbies: Rugby (just coaching and watching these days). Cars (driving tours and tracks days). Learning to play the bass guitar. Discovering new wines.
2 Fun Facts:
I had to convince rowing legend Steve Redgrave (who was start marshall) to reschedule the race when one of our opposition broke their oar at the start of the Henley Regatta course. Fortunately, he said yes which was just as well as I had to rush to my second day of a new job.
I discovered that it’s possible to suffer a reasonably serious injury playing “touch” rugby – I’m never going to live that one down!
Local tip: Local to me is Pyrford. Explore the waterways. I’ve cycled to Basingstoke, Godalming and London (not in the same day!) along various towpaths.
If I didn’t work at Chevening I would be: Refurbishing another house, it is incredibly stressful but equally rewarding.
What I’m looking forward to: The publication of my book: “Planning for Retirement: Your guide to financial freedom” which I have been writing since the start of lockdown.
